On 27th September 2026, BETTEX Dhaka welcomed three representatives from Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College. Professor Li Guangpeng, Lecturer Mr. Lin Bing and Interpreter Tang Yingying led a session for our team that focused on Chinese culture and Bangladesh-China trade opportunities.
Understanding Chinese Culture
and History
The session opened with an overview of China's history and cultural heritage. Topics included tea culture, traditional dance, makeup and landmarks such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. The speakers also covered a difficult period in Chinese history, the Great Leap Forward, from famine of 1959 to 1961. They then explained how reforms and development strategies drove China's rapid modernization.

They highlighted China's remarkable progress over the past few decades making it one of the world's largest economies with a sharp rise in GDP. They explained why the ‘China Model’ has been successful -

The presenters introduced the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and highlighted how China and Bangladesh can work together in areas such as diplomatic relationship, trade, investment and infrastructure. They also highlighted the opportunities a stronger Bangladesh China cooperation can open for Bangladeshi professionals.
Hands-On Learning: Language, Calligraphy and Activities
The learning was not limited to slides. Our team picked up basic Chinese language and tried traditional calligraphy. Light exercises and activities kept the energy up. The session closed with a certificate ceremony.
